Trade deadline markets often take shape after one deal sets the price. Once a team sees what a comparable player brought back, it has a better idea of what its own veterans are worth, and buyers get a clearer sense of what they will have to pay. That benchmark arrived last week. Now one of the top linemen on the market is being connected to the Browns again.
Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report ranked Philadelphia Eagles guard Landon Dickerson 3rd on his trade block big board entering Week 8, naming the Browns as potential suitors.
“Schefter reported earlier this month that guard Landon Dickerson is a player that teams will be eyeing if the Eagles do decide to be deadline sellers. A three-time Pro Bowler who is still only 28 years old, Dickerson would bring a strong return to Philadelphia. Roseman won’t want to completely tear down this Eagles roster. After seeing the Colts get third- and fifth-round picks for the 30-year-old Nelson, however, he could decide that now is the time to flip Dickerson for future draft capital,” Knox wrote.
The Quenton Nelson trade is the deal that set the market. The Indianapolis Colts sent the All-Pro guard to the Seattle Seahawks for 3rd- and 5th-round picks, and Dickerson is 2 years younger with a contract that runs through 2028. Knox projected his value at a conditional 2027 2nd-round pick.
His health is no longer the question it was 2 weeks ago. Dickerson came off injured reserve in Week 7 after dealing with a knee injury and played every offensive snap in Philadelphia’s loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday.
The fit in Cleveland looks different now than it did earlier this month. The Browns’ offensive line just had its best game of the season, allowing 1 sack against the Tennessee Titans while paving the way for 183 rushing yards. Zion Johnson has been one of the league’s best pass-blocking guards, Austin Barber has kept improving at right guard and Spencer Fano was named PFF’s Rookie of the Week.
Dickerson’s versatility could still make him appealing. He won the Rimington Trophy as the nation’s top center at Alabama, so he could provide insurance behind Elgton Jenkins, who missed time this month with concussion and knee injuries, or eventually take over in the middle.
The Browns have the resources to make it work. They own 2 first-round picks and 11 total selections in 2027.
Paying a 2nd-round pick for a guard is a steep price for a line that is starting to come together. But adding a 3-time Pro Bowler in his prime would give the Browns stability up front for years. Sunday’s trip to Pittsburgh could shape how aggressive Berry wants to be before the November 10 deadline.
