The Cleveland Browns are currently in the midst of training camp, and this year’s event is very pivotal to the team. With several changes to the roster and the coaching staff, Cleveland is hoping to turn a corner, start a new chapter, and look much better in 2026.
There is a lot of focus on the current race to be the starting quarterback, but there have been revamps up and down the roster. The coaches are deciding who they can rely on the most and are making their plans as the season approaches.
Writing for ESPN, Daniel Oyefusi touched upon the Browns’ special team, led by new coordinator Byron Storer. Special teams has been a problem for Cleveland over the last few years, and they could be making some changes.
However, it sounds like an established veteran may be in the lead.
“Special teams coordinator Byron Storer said the team is ‘definitely taking a hard look at’ punters Wes Pahl and Nik Constantinou, but ‘It’s Corey [Bojorquez]’s job to lose,'” Oyefusi wrote.
When Storer was given the job, he said that he was going to treat every player equally, refusing to give anyone a leg up or better odds of making the final roster. Now, it sounds like Bojorquez has the upper hand.
Some fans might question the Browns for having three punters on their roster. The fact that Bojorquez has still played well during training camp despite the fact that he has competition might help him secure the job. If he has shown Storer that he can still play well while other people are vying for his position, he can show that he handles pressure well.
Still, nothing is decided yet, and both Pahl and Constantinou remain on the team.
Right now, these three are duking it out to get the top spot, and Bojorquez’s experience might be giving him a boost, but that doesn’t mean this special teams situation is settled.
