The Cleveland Browns’ season opener is just one day away as they get set to open the 2026 campaign with a tough Week 1 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who are fresh off a 13-win season and looking to get off to another hot start. Few are giving the Browns a legitimate shot to pull off the upset, but Jared Verse, Todd Monken, and others don’t care about that one bit.
You always want to head into Week 1 at full strength, and while the Browns are close to that designation, they do have a few missing pieces. The most notable injury is starting right guard Teven Jenkins, who will have to wait at least one more week to make his Browns debut as he has been ruled out with a back injury suffered earlier this week in practice.
Scott Petrak of The Chronicle-Telegram shared the Browns’ updated injury report, which shows Jenkins listed as out, and rookie backup center Parker Brailsford as the only other one with a designation, as he is questionable following a limited practice session on Friday. Maliek Collins was limited in Friday’s practice but doesn’t have an injury designation and linebacker Carson Schwesinger was a full participant and should be good to go on Sunday.

Jacksonville also had four players on the injury report with starting left tackle Anton Harrison being the most notable due to missing practice on Friday, though he interestingly doesn’t have an injury designation despite that information. Third-string running back LeQuint Allen Jr. is the only other player at risk of missing Week 1 as he is questionable due to a hip injury.
Cleveland hasn’t lost to the Jags since 2017 and Deshaun Watson is 7-1 against them in his career. Not having Jenkins is going to be a real test for Watson and this offensive line, because if he gets sacked nearly five times a game like he did the last time he was the starter, he once again won’t be able to play well or finish the season.
Austin Barber’s first career start in Jenkins’ place will be an interesting subplot to watch on Sunday. The coaching staff is high on him and hopefully he is the only backup who has to be thrust into a starting role in Jacksonville.
