The Cleveland Browns had a big wet blanket thrown on their fire last week as the Pittsburgh Steelers once again throttled them and extended their home winning streak in the regular season over the Browns to 23 games. Nevertheless, the Browns are still 5-3 and in the thick of the AFC playoff race with an appetizing matchup at the New Orleans Saints coming up on Sunday.
The tricky part stems from the injury report, where a number of key members of the starting lineup are currently working through ailments that put them at risk of missing Sunday’s contest. Most notable, Deshaun Watson missed practice on Thursday due to him still being in the concussion protocol, and if he is unable to get back out there on Friday, Shedeur Sanders could be in line for his first start of the season, which will certainly trigger the interest of a lot of fans and media members, including Colin Cowherd.
During Thursday’s episode of The Herd, Cowherd spoke about how excited he is to watch Cleveland’s young quarterback potentially make his first start of the season on Sunday. With the Saints being 0-4 at home and surrendering nearly 30 points per game in the Superdome, Sanders has a great opportunity to put up a big performance.
“Very rarely am I interested in watching a quarterback who’s young with a losing record for a franchise that is historically a non-factor. But, the Browns and Shedeur Sanders this weekend does interest me,” Cowherd said.

Sanders is one of the most polarizing young talents to come into the league in quite some time. Whether you love him or hate him, you’re going to want to tune in on Sunday to see how he does.
The other interesting aspect of this game is that Sanders could be auditioning for the other 31 teams with the trade deadline just around the corner. He has been involved in trade rumors for months, and some believe GM Andrew Berry could absolutely deal him to one of the many QB-needy teams around the league ahead of the November 10 deadline.
Sanders stepped into an awful situation last season when he took over as the starter, but he should be much-improved and much more prepared this time around. He also has a much more enviable situation in terms of the players around him and he has a chance to improve his stock around the league with a big performance on Sunday.
