Baker Mayfield spent a lot of time visiting his Cleveland Browns teammates this offseason.
And now that he is back home, he finds he has a new neighbor on the block.
Well, at least in his Progressive Insurance “At Home With Baker Mayfield” series at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Baker Mayfield never dreamed of being teammates with Alice Cooper.
But the Browns QB will host the rock star in his latest Progressive commercial: https://t.co/glAvP0P0fM pic.twitter.com/1Z7Q7c07aj

Legendary hard rocker Alice Cooper landed a role as Baker and Emily’s neighbor in a recently recorded spot.
And from what we hear, Cooper and Mayfield more than hit it off.
Mayfield called his new co-star an “amazing person and a fun guy” and appreciated Cooper’s Detroit Lions fandom.
At least in real life, Mayfield seemed in awe of the shock rocker.

Cooper still tours at the tender age of 73, but his heyday was arguably the 1970s and 80s.
That was after he introduced pyrotechnics, snakes, and a guillotine to his performance stage.
But it was a tamer fact about the legend that most impressed Mayfield.
“Cooper is a Scratch Golfer”
Given Alice Cooper’s long and sometimes controversial rock history, Mayfield’s first assessment was unexpected.
When reporters asked about his new neighbor, Mayfield went right to Cooper’s biggest non-musical talent.
“(Cooper) is a scratch golfer!” said an impressed Mayfield.
Indeed, Cooper shot a pro-worthy 70 at a local golf course during his stay in Cleveland.
Other than that, Mayfield had heard Cooper’s iconic anthem, “School’s Out (Forever)” and that was about it.

But he took the time to look up some other facts about his Progressive neighbor during the week.
After all, one doesn’t fashion a 50-years-and-rolling career out of one song, including Alice Cooper.
Cooper is called the “Godfather of Shock Rock”, but he helped shape other rock genres, including heavy metal.
He is also a restaurateur, radio host, actor, and of course, a golf personality.
Armed with a sharp sense of humor, Cooper was once called the “most beloved rock personality” by Rolling Stone.
What Kind of Neighbor is Alice Cooper?
Baker Mayfield spotted Cooper practicing his lines for the Progressive commercial.
He was impressed that someone of the rocker’s stature took this side gig so seriously.
Perhaps the elder Cooper’s example will reinforce Mayfield’s game preparation.
As far as the commercial, we can assume the icon lives at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame down the road.
But what kind of Progressive Insurance neighbor will he be?

If Emily finds a snake in the garden, Cooper would qualify as a handler to help rid her of the pest.
Or maybe Cooper’s lighting repairs result in a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame-worthy touchdown celebration?
Given his raucous and decibel-busting concerts, one scenario would be ironic.
What if it is Alice Cooper who calls Emily about the noise when Jedrick Wills and Baker play video games?
As if we need another reason, I guess we’ll have to tune in to Browns games this year to find out.
