Shedeur Sanders has been through a lot during this offseason. Between the rumors about his future with the Cleveland Browns and the close attention paid to his social media presence, Sanders hasn’t gotten much time off.
Now he is in training camp and attempting to earn the starting quarterback role in Cleveland, but that job may be handed to Deshaun Watson. According to Justin Cooper, it might all be taking a toll.
Speaking about Sanders’ body language at camp, Cooper suggested that the young QB wasn’t in the best of moods and didn’t appreciate being “the back of the line behind Deshaun.”
“Shedeur was going through drills, and the body language the entire practice was kind of off from jump street. You could tell that he was probably upset that it was his turn to take first-team reps, and he got put in the back of the line behind Deshaun. You could clearly see out of his body language that he wasn’t his normal, energized self,” Cooper said.

If Sanders’ body language really is a sign of how he’s feeling, this could be bad news for the Browns. One of the most positive things about Sanders has been his commitment and positive attitude. Experts and fans have noted that Sanders has had the right mindset despite the uncertainty around him and his role within the team.
However, if that has changed and Sanders’ feelings have soured, it could mean he is checked out and ready to move on from the Browns. He obviously wants to be the team’s starting quarterback. Losing that role to Watson could make him want to try his luck with a different team, which could disrupt chemistry in Cleveland’s locker room.
Maybe he was just having a bad day, or Cooper and others weren’t reading him correctly.
But if he isn’t feeling great about his position with the team and his standing on the roster, it could suggest serious complications for what’s ahead. It’ll be interesting to hear how Sanders is acting in the days ahead.
Everyone will be curious to see if he is jovial and joyful or withdrawn as the season draws closer.
