The season opener for the Cleveland Browns is only a day away, which means so are the NFL debuts for its latest heralded rookie class. With nine of their 10 picks from the 2026 NFL Draft on the 53-man roster, there are plenty of exciting players to choose from and watch closely against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
However, two of those players stood out from the rest during spring workouts, training camp, and the preseason. Now it is time to prove themselves again in the regular season.
Bleacher Report analyst Alex Ballentine has named two reasons for optimism for Browns fans, identifying rookie wide receivers KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston as “an interesting 1-2 punch.”
“Hope has arrived in the form of two rookie receivers in KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston. Not only are they both dynamic, but their differing skill sets give the Browns the potential for an interesting 1-2 punch in the room. Concepcion was taken with the first pick and has already proven to be an all-around weapon with the ball in his hands during the preseason. Boston is the big-bodied receiver who has drawn comparisons to Drake London,” Ballentine wrote.
Concepcion was the Browns’ second pick in the first round, at No. 24 overall, after starting left tackle Spencer Fano was chosen at No. 9. Boston was somewhat surprisingly still available in the second round at No. 39 overall.
Boston garnered most of the early praise, as he was an immediate standout in minicamps with his impressive 6-foot-4, 215-pound build and sure hands. It took a little longer for Concepcion to get going, but once he did, he was named the team’s most outstanding rookie at training camp and may have even overtaken Boston with his dynamic performance in Cleveland’s first preseason game.
At 6-foot, 190 pounds, he provides almost a perfect complement to Boston with his elusiveness and impressive speed. Each of them can work the middle of the field successfully, in different ways, but they also have the ability to get downfield as well.
They should provide an immediate boost to the Browns’ passing game after their wide receivers ranked last in the NFL as a group in receptions, yards, and touchdown catches. Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. led the team in all of those categories as a rookie.
Now, Concepcion and Boston will likely be competing with each other for that distinction in what promises to be a strong rookie campaign for each of them.
