On Thursday, the Cleveland Browns will hold a joint practice with the Buffalo Bills. In the grand scheme of things, this practice doesn’t affect the future of either team. But that doesn’t mean fans won’t be closely examining every choice, every snap, and every rush.
Writing on social media, Daryl Ruiter raised multiple questions about the highly anticipated joint practice.
“Today is going to be enlightening for Browns. The defense has been dominant going against the offense. How do they look v an elite QB in Josh Allen and explosive offense in Bills? Deshaun & Shedeur splitting 1st team reps, who seizes the day? Do young skill guys keep it up?” Ruiter posted.

Defense was the Browns’ strongest asset last season, and there is a lot of hope that they will still be able to shut down opposing offenses in 2026. With that being said, the changes that have come to Cleveland have affected the defense, and some people worry that the unit could take a step back.
The practice and upcoming game against the Bills will be a chance for Cleveland to show that their defense is still top-notch. And they won’t be facing just any other quarterback. Instead, they will be attempting to put the clamps on Josh Allen. Can the Browns shut him down and potentially earn a sack or two without the help of Myles Garrett?
Of course, all eyes will also be on Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders. If Watson continues to perform well, it could further the narrative that he’s the frontrunner to be the team’s starting quarterback in the new season.
But if he can’t handle the pressure from Buffalo, Sanders may become a more viable option. This is an opportunity for Sanders to step up and play like his career depends on it.
The Browns have been very busy during the offseason, acquiring several promising rookies. The time has now come for them to show that the promise and potential can be converted to on-field success, even against a tough opponent.
This practice will be a way for fans and analysts to take a closer look at the Browns, how they work together, how their defense holds up, and how their quarterback competition is looking.
Obviously, it’s far more than just a regular practice.
