It’s Friday of NFL Conference Championship weekend.
Here are the Browns Nations news and notes for the Cleveland Browns for Friday, January 28, 2022.
1. Colin Cowherd Shares Surprising Post About Baker Mayfield
This is not a typical Cowherd post or roast of Baker Mayfield.
It was a more personal one that he really did not have to share but chose to do so anyway.
Cowherd posted a picture of Mayfield with a close friend of his, David Slay.
Slay is the owner of Slay Italian Kitchen, a Manhattan Beach, California, restaurant.
With the picture, Cowherd wrote:
“I have been critical but I need to be fair too. Baker was at my friends place tonight. Could not have been nicer and classier. David was really impressed. Made my night. Thank you @bakermayfield #SlayItalian”

Mayfield looks rested and relaxed in the picture which could indicate that the break from social media, the California sunshine, and the rehab from last week’s shoulder surgery are going well.
Let’s hope all of the above is true.
2. Ben Roethlisberger Officially Retires
There are mixed feelings among Browns fans about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement which became official on Thursday.
The success and longevity are admired by some, but the exodus of a formidable AFC North rival quarterback was welcomed by many.
A few posted well wishes and memories.
Browns cornerback Denzel Ward posted a picture of himself with Roethlisberger on Instagram.

Ed in Columbus marked the occasion by talking about the Browns’ first defeat of Roethlisberger with their 8 sack game on December 10, 2009.
Prior to this game, Roethlisberger won 11 straight against the Browns starting in his 2004 rookie season.
