Browns Worked Out 5 Players Nobody’s Talking About

When a team turns in a performance as bad as the Cleveland Browns’ did in Week 1, you can’t fault them for looking for some new players. At this point, almost no job should be safe, especially those at the back end of the roster or on the practice squad.

The Browns need to improve, and fast. That is why they continue to keep their eye on the market to see if someone might be able to help.

According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, the Browns recently worked out five players.

Barnes is a veteran linebacker who has played 75 NFL games. After debuting with the Green Bay Packers in 2020 and playing three seasons for them, he has also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers, posting 303 career combined tackles (184 solo), with 16 tackles for loss and 5.0 sacks. The 28-year-old was released by the Washington Commanders at this year’s cutdown day.

Kane is a veteran safety who was a seventh-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has also played for the Tennessee Titans and has 17 combined tackles in 24 career games. The 24-year-old was waived by Tennessee with an injury designation in July.

McCullough, a linebacker, was an undrafted free agent this offseason who was waived by the Denver Broncos during final cuts. The 23-year-old has also tried out with the Cardinals and New England Patriots.

Quinn, also a linebacker, signed with the Green Bay Packers as an undrafted free agent this offseason. The 23-year-old was let go as part of their final cuts.

Thomas, a safety, has played three seasons for the Dallas Cowboys, posting 62 combined tackles in 36 games. The 26-year-old signed with the Indianapolis Colts as a free agent this offseason, was let go at final cuts, and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers’ practice squad.

By the looks of things, the Browns are searching for some help at the second and third levels of their defense, as they have only one linebacker (Nathaniel Watson) and one safety (Zion Washington) currently on their practice squad.
