The Haslam family accepted the honor as part of a virtual ceremony.
2020 Donation
In March 2020, the Haslam family donated $1.5 million to coronavirus relief efforts in Northeast Ohio.
When they made the donation, Jimmy and Dee Haslam said:
“We are humbled by the tremendous work of people around the world in their efforts to help those impacted by COVID-19 and we wanted to try to positively impact those affected in our own communities of Cleveland and Columbus. We are grateful for the individuals who are putting others before themselves and for the sacrifices they are making.”
$1 million of that money went to the Greater Cleveland COVID-19 Rapid Release Fund which helped address issues related to addressing the outbreak locally.
The remaining $500,000 went to the Columbus Foundation’s Emergency Response Fund which assists non-profit organizations working to contain and control COVID-19.
