Johnny Manziel caused quite a Twitter stir when he tweeted at XFL commissioner Oliver Luck for a chance to play in the XFL, then promptly deleted his account.
He returned on Saturday with a message that was about more than the XFL.
“Have zero desire to play any football these days. Just love stirring up controversy,” Manziel, 27, wrote on Twitter.
“Just trollin,” Manziel added.

Manziel certainly would have given the XFL a boost as the numbers have dropped significantly between week 1 and week 2.
The four @xfl2020 games in Week 2 averaged around 2.1 million viewers across ABC (x2), Fox and FS1, down 34% from 3.1 million for four games in Week 1 across ABC, Fox (x2) and ESPN. A drop like this was to be expected given the novelty factor in Week 1 for the fledgling league

But, the XFL has shown no interest in him and Manziel has mocked the league in the past.
ComebackSZN still alive if y’all ain’t know. Just not playing for another league that’s going to fold on you midway through the season

Manziel spent only 1 season in the CFL with both Montreal and Hamilton before he was banned from the league before the 2019 season.
He had a brief stint in the AAF before it shut down.
In 2018, Manziel spoke about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
However, in recent instagram posts, he has spoken about a return to partying.
Who’s tryna RIP Old Town tonight ?!?

Manziel has also expressed his peace if he never picks up a football again.
If I never pick up a ball again it’s all love. I was the most lit, most relatable college football player to ever do it. Did things my way and made it way further than I ever could of imagined. The game gave me life and I’ll forever be grateful

With the XFL ratings in decline, it would be curious to see if the XFL changes their course on Manziel.
Who knows, maybe if Manziel’s phone rings, he might be singing a different tune on playing again.
