Tom Seipel, who is battling kidney cancer, took to Youtube to tell the world of his diagnosis just a few weeks ago.
He was told he only may have a few weeks left to live according to his doctors.
He is a husband, father, loyal Cleveland Browns fan, and a missionary who spent years in Nicaragua.
So loyal, that Seipel said a ‘thank you’ and ‘goodbye‘ to his fellow fans on Reddit.
“Guys, you know I don’t have much time left. You guys have been a great fan base,” he wrote, never to imagine what would come next.
Seipel has been documenting his journey on Youtube, so his 6-year old daughter has something to remember him by.
“I didn’t know how soon this cancer would be taking over and so I wanted her to have some videos you know to at least see papa throughout this fight,” he said.
His story caught the attention of Baker Mayfield and his wife Emily who sent this video on Dec 23.

“Hey, Tom, Baker Mayfield here. Was just reading up on your story. You’re extremely inspirational, man, you’re a warrior. Just want to say, keep fighting, appreciate your support and we’ll see what happens when we get into the playoffs. We’ll see if we can make those dreams come true, bud. We’ll be praying for you man, hang in there. Go Browns.”
Seipel is originally from Columbus and a graduate of Ohio State, who has been a Browns fan since childhood.
For Sunday’s game, the Mayfields and others are flying Seipel and his father to Cleveland to watch Sunday’s game against the Steelers.
“You know, a guy who’s just trying to tell his story to meeting you know, I call him ‘Mr. Dangerous’ himself, that’s pretty crazy,” Tom Seipel said, believing it is all part of a bigger plan.
“Maybe dying is not the perfect timing that I’d like, but I’m going to go out with a bang and make sure I do some good with this,” he said.
Seipel has been battling kidney cancer since 2017.
