The Cleveland Browns are coming off a big win on Sunday in which Shedeur Sander made his first career start and led the Browns’ offense to one of their best performances of the season. But with Dillon Gabriel likely to be out of concussion protocol this week, the obvious question was going to be whether Sanders would remain the starter.
On Monday afternoon, Kevin Stefanski wasted no time in providing the answer to that question as he announced that Sanders will start on Sunday against the 49ers.

Final Stretch Becomes Crucial Test For Sanders’ Future
With the Browns riding their momentum from Sunday’s win, this is the right call from Stefanski. They have to see what they have in Sanders, and the final six games of the season will be a good opportunity to evaluate him.
While six games will still be a small sample for a quarterback in his rookie season to make a conclusion, the team must get an idea of the potential that Sanders has. With so much history of failure at the position, Sanders has the tools to have success at the position, but you never know how a quarterback will perform at the NFL level.
The Browns, as a team on Sunday, seemed to rally around Sanders, and he unlocked a big-play ability in the offense that has been lacking for much of the season. While Quinshon Judkins is enjoying a breakout rookie season, NFL defenses are starting to adjust to him, and he’s seeing more stacked boxes.
Sanders’ ability allows the offense to become more dynamic and stretch the field vertically, which only benefits the entire team.
