The Cleveland Browns had the worst group of wide receivers, at least statistically, in the NFL last season. The Browns ranked last in receptions, yards, and touchdown catches, which is why they used two of their first three picks in the 2025 NFL Draft on the position.
First-round pick KC Concepcion and second-round choice Denzel Boston have lived up to that status since their arrival, and they look like they will be a formidable 1-2 combination for years to come. But they have yet to prove themselves in the regular season, so there is at least some reason for doubt.
Nevertheless, the Browns’ WR room could make a fool out of the latest rankings by CBS Sports, which has it ranked at No. 30 in the NFL heading into this season.
“This might be too low for the Browns, but with such an unproven room, it was hard to push them any higher. KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston could make this ranking look silly if they get off to fast starts to their respective careers,” Jared Dubin wrote.
Cleveland is ranked ahead of only the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 31 and the Miami Dolphins at No. 32. Dubin writes that Miami has “the most barren wide receiver room in the league,” and “the Raiders are lucky the Dolphins exist.”
That kind of company would not seem to bode well for the Browns, but the upside of Concepcion and Boston, along with second-year pro Isaiah Bond, is a reason for optimism. It is also possible that veteran Jerry Jeudy could have a bounce-back season after his production dropped almost by half in 2025 as compared to 2024.
It remains to be seen if new starting quarterback Deshaun Watson can make the most of it after relying on short passes in his appearances this preseason. A controversial choice over Shedeur Sanders, Watson averaged just 4.4 air yards per attempt in his first game and posted just 16 yards on 11 attempts other than a 20-yard completion in his second outing.
Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. led the Browns with 72 receptions, 731 yards and six TDs as a rookie last season. Compare that to all of the Browns’ wide receivers, who totalled 117 receptions, 1,467 yards and four TDs as a group of six players.
That should not be the case this year, and the Browns will likely be much higher on this list in 2027.
