When the Cleveland Browns traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams before the season, they were given a lot of credit for getting back a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft in the deal. It was thought that even though the choice from the Rams was going to be near the bottom of the round, the Browns would be able to package it with their own high selection to move up to get the quarterback they wanted, if necessary.
Just six weeks into the season, however, those tables have turned considerably. With the Browns and Rams heading in opposite directions, Cleveland’s pick would be considerably lower than the one it holds from Los Angeles.
If the season ended today, the Browns’ draft would look surprising, as they would have a high pick from the Rams, followed by the one they earned themselves.
“The Browns would pick 10th and 27th overall. No. 10 — From the Rams. No. 27 — Cleveland’s own. Just like we all expected,” Polymarket Football posted.

After the Green Bay Packers’ victory against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night, the Browns would actually have the No. 26 overall pick, but the point remains. Cleveland is surprisingly among the best teams in the NFL at this point, while Los Angeles, a prohibitive preseason Super Bowl favorite, has its work cut out for it to even make the playoffs.
Perhaps even more surprising is that the Los Angeles Chargers, who have Justin Herbert as their starting quarterback, would have the No. 1 overall pick. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who recently gave Baker Mayfield a contract extension, are at No. 4, and the Washington Commanders, who have Jayden Daniels, are at No. 5.
So, the Browns’ potential search for a franchise QB could still be solved without a top-five selection. Yet, even those plans may be changing after Deshaun Watson led his fourth game-winning drive of the season, which is the most in the NFL.
For the next few weeks, at least, Browns fans will be more focused on this year’s playoff than next year’s draft, while those who support the Rams may be thinking about matters much differently.
