Planning for the future never stops for an NFL team, no matter where they might be in the present. The Cleveland Browns have been looking ahead to the 2027 NFL Draft for quite some time, and on Saturday, they are putting in some work to prepare for it.
Quarterback prospect Arch Manning is playing for the University of Texas against the University of Tennessee in a matchup of Top 25 teams. That has drawn a lot of attention to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee.
According to ESPN draft analyst Jordan Reid, the Browns are one of 10 NFL teams to send scouts to the game.
“10 NFL teams that are in attendance for Texas-Tennessee: ATL, BUF, CHI, CLE, DEN, DET, GB, LAR, MIA, NYG. Bears, Browns, Giants, and Rams all have multiple representatives on hand,” Reid posted.

Manning, who is in the running to be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft, is not the only top prospect involved in the contest. The Browns have also been linked to his Texas teammate, edge rusher Colin Simmons, and wide receiver Cam Coleman is another potential first-round talent.
For Tennessee, offensive lineman Jesse Carter and linebacker Arion Carter are seen as later-round prospects. It does have a promising true freshman quarterback, Faizon Brandon.
It is interesting to note that the Miami Dolphins, Atlanta Falcons, and New York Giants also have representatives at the game. The Dolphins look like they are going to be the leading team in the race for the No. 1 pick, and they could decide to move on from quarterback Malik Willis, who was signed this offseason as a free agent.
The Falcons, under head coach Kevin Stefanski, may also be in the market for Manning, with an injury-riddled situation at the position. That may have been settled, at least for the time being, with the return of Michael Penix Jr.
The Giants are by far the most interesting team on this list. After losing Jaxson Dart to a season-ending knee injury, they may not only be headed for a high draft pick, but they may also be in the market for a top QB to guard against the injury-prone nature of Dart’s short career to date. In addition, the Manning connection with his uncle Eli Manning cannot be ignored.
So, the Browns are not alone in trying to gather as much information as they can about Arch Manning and others at the college football SEC showdown.
