The Cleveland Browns have another chance to significantly improve their team in the 2027 NFL Draft, as they hold two first-round picks. Even though it’s been just one game, that extra pick they received from the Los Angeles Rams in the Myles Garrett trade could be much more valuable than anyone thought.
As the Super Bowl favorite, the Rams’ pick is expected to be at the bottom of the first round. But after a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in their season opener in Australia, Los Angeles currently holds the No. 1 overall pick in the draft order.
Based on that projection, Tankathon has the Browns landing two top prospects in an early mock draft, turning that top pick into quarterback Arch Manning and then using their own selection on edge rusher Colin Simmons at No. 4 overall.

This particular scenario is unlikely to hold, with it almost impossible for the Rams to wind up with that No. 1 selection. But after watching their underwhelming showing against the 49ers, which included zero tackles from Myles Garrett, the pick the Browns receive may not be the last one in the round, either.
The Browns could package their two first-round picks, plus some more, to ensure they get the No. 1 pick ahead of other potential contenders such as the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets, and Miami Dolphins. If they can somehow keep one of their 2027 first-round picks and trade future choices instead, they might be able to add two stars, even though they are unlikely both to be the quality of Manning and Simmons.
Manning may not even be the consensus top choice, as quarterbacks Dante Moore or Darian Mensah could ascend to that spot with their play during the season. Manning’s Texas teammate Simmons is also considered an almost certain top-10 choice as one of the top edge rushers along with Dylan Stewart of South Carolina.
For at least the next 48 hours, the Browns will have a better record than the Rams, and it will be fun to see how long that will last.
