The Cleveland Browns likely had great interest when the Buffalo Bills opened their new stadium this month. It did not go well, as social media critiques showed seats with obstructed views, and the venue was almost universally panned as a waste of billions of dollars.
With the Bills organization visiting Berea this week for a joint practice followed by a preseason game at the existing Huntington Bank Field, perhaps they can compare notes. Until then, the Browns will go forward with the construction of their $2.4 billion Brook Park venue, which is scheduled to open in time for the 2029 NFL season.
On Monday, the Browns unveiled a scale model of the new stadium, and each step of the process seems to be more impressive than the last.

There are many unique aspects to the enclosed stadium, including a transparent roof and seats that are closer to the field than anywhere else in the NFL. The Dawg Pound section of 6,500 seats has been specially designed to increase the noise and intimidation factor from the team’s most loyal fans. The playing surface will reportedly be artificial turf, but it can also accommodate grass if needed, as the topic is likely to be brought up by the players in the next round of labor negotiations.
Architecturally, 70 percent of the seats are below ground level, in part to accommodate flight requirements regarding nearby Hopkins International Airport. With the largest fan concourse and end zone scoreboard in the league, its flexible design has a capacity of 67,500 for football, with even more possible for different types of events such as concerts.
Over the past few months, owner Jimmy Haslam has expressed his attention for tickets to be affordable, and president Dave Jenkins has touted its premium experiences. Commissioner Roger Goodell has also mentioned it as a possible location for a future NFL Draft.
Hopefully, by the time the new Huntington Bank Field opens, the Browns will have a team that is worthy of its new accommodations.
