Over the previous two seasons, there was a golden opportunity for any emerging wide receiver to become an important part of the Cleveland Browns’ offense. That was most evident last year, when, as a group, they ranked last in the NFL in receptions, yards, and touchdown catches.
As a fifth-round pick from the 2024 NFL Draft, Jamari Thrash was a prospect who had the physical skills to become a factor. Unfortunately, he never lived up to his potential, and he is no longer part of the organization.
The Browns have waived the veteran wide receiver ahead of the season opener, which will make the 25-year-old a free agent.
“The Browns have waived WR Jamari Thrash from injured reserve,” Daniel Oyefusi posted.

Thrash played in 18 games with one start over his first two NFL seasons, despite the Browns’ need for someone to produce at the position. He suffered a foot injury late last season and missed time in this year’s training camp with an undisclosed issue.
He was waived in early August with an injury designation, and after clearing waivers, was placed on injured reserve. Now, this move of letting him go could allow him to sign with another team, if healthy, as he tries to extend his NFL career.
Along with Cedric Tillman, who was released in the days leading up to the NFL roster deadline, Thrash no longer fit into Cleveland’s plans after it selected KC Concepcion and Denzel Boston in the first two rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft. The rookies quickly showed that they will be key players in the passing attack, which allowed the Browns to move on from the underachieving players.
Tillman has signed with the New Orleans Saints’ practice squad, so perhaps there is someone who will be interested in Thrash as well. The Browns this week officially added wide receiver Bub Means to their practice squad, which includes Kole Wilson.
So, they would be next in line in case any of Concepcion, Boston, Jerry Jeudy, Isaiah Bond, Tylan Wallace, or Malachi Corley wind up sidelined during the season.
