Mike McCarthy was the subject of many head coaching vacancies at the end of the 2018 season after he was fired by the Green Bay Packers.
The Browns were one of the teams rumored after the 2018 season to have interest in McCarthy.
Ultimately, McCarthy decided to withdraw himself from consideration and take a year off from coaching.
A year later, there is interest again.
His familiarity with current Browns GM John Dorsey has always made the interest reasonable.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that the Browns are expected to interview McCarthy for their head coaching vacancy after firing Freddie Kitchens.
This time around, the #Browns have interest in and are expected to ask to interview former #Packers coach Mike McCarthy, source said. They did not make it happen last time.

McCarthy and Dorsey were in Green Bay for seven seasons together.
McCarthy accumulated a 135-85-2 career record along with a Super Bowl ring in his time in Green Bay.
Even though McCarthy is an experienced Super Bowl-winning coach, his hiring wouldn’t come without some critics.
This included reported clashes with Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and questions about his offensive philosophy being outdated in today’s NFL.
Coaches can evolve, so maybe Mike McCarthy will work out. But his offense in Green Bay these past few years had become a relic of the sport. It would be difficult to justify hiring him as an OC, let alone a HC.
