Stop me if you’ve heard this before.
The Browns have never been to the Super Bowl and they have not won any championship in the modern era.
They were very close in the mid-late 80s.
After the 1986, 1987, and 1989 seasons, the franchise lost to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship game.
Then, there was a long walk through the desert where the Browns were lucky to reach the playoffs.
Last year was different.
With new head coach Kevin Stefanski and GM Andrew Berry, Cleveland has quickly gone from laughing stock to title contender.
The turnaround has been swift as the Browns went from winless in 2017 to the postseason three years later.
Last season, the team posted an 11-5 record (its best since 1994) and won their first playoff game, also since 1994.
The real showing of how far they have come is their near upset of Kansas City in the Divisional Round.
Berry and his crew got to work again this offseason to help put Cleveland over the top in 2021.
Not only does the organization look good on paper, but numerous pundits like the Browns’ chances to make the Super Bowl this year.
This was confirmed yet again when CBS Sports released their list of the best teams that have never won a title and who they believe will break that curse this season.
12 teams have never hoisted the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
For the #Bills and #Browns, 2021 is the best chance in decades for them to end that drought.

In the article released on Wednesday, Jeff Kerr of CBSSports.com ranked the Browns as the second best non-Super Bowl team to potentially win it all in 2021.
First on his list was Buffalo who last made the Super Bowl in 1994.
The Bills have a solid nucleus of quarterback Josh Allen, receivers Stefon Diggs, Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis and a powerful defense.
Buffalo’s last title of any kind was 1965 when they won the AFL Championship.
Meanwhile, as Kerr points out, the Browns have assembled a potent roster of their own.
Not only do they boast quarterback Baker Mayfield, receivers Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry, Donovan Peoples-Jones, and Rashard Higgins, running backs Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, but the team has arguably the best offensive line in football.
Last year’s Cleveland defense wasn’t the best, but they return Grant Delpit and Greedy Williams who were injured last year.
Then, the team signed or drafted the likes of John Johnson III, Anthony Walker, Troy Hill, Greg Newsome II, Jeremiah Owusu-Koramorah, and Jadeveon Clowney.
Where the Browns hurt the worst on defense in 2020, depth, has been addressed.

Including last year, Cleveland has made the postseason only three times since 1994.
The last time the Browns advanced to a title game was in 1965.
They lost the NFL Championship game that season to the Packers 23-12.
The team did win the title the previous year 27-0 against the Colts.
With a solid roster, great coaching staff and savvy front office, Cleveland is on the cusp of a title at long last.
It won’t be long until we see exactly how well this team will perform on the field and find out if the hype is justified.
