Every young receiver remembers the game when everything finally clicked. Rookie seasons are full of flashes, but there is usually one afternoon when a player stops looking like he is learning the league and starts looking like he belongs. What a player says after that kind of day often shows how he plans to build on it. One Browns rookie made it clear on Sunday that he does not plan to stop.
KC Concepcion spoke about his big performance after the 27-24 win over the Tennessee Titans, and he made it clear that he’s just getting started.
“KC Concepcion: This week, it was my breakout game. I just can’t wait to keep stacking weeks,” Concepcion said.

It is hard to argue with Concepcion’s message. He caught 8 passes for 129 yards on 10 targets, the first 100-yard game of his career, and he did all of it before halftime. He also ran 3 times for 23 yards, giving the Browns another way to get the ball in his hands.
The timing made the performance even more impressive. Concepcion was limited in practice for most of the week with calf and quad injuries, and 2 weeks ago he was knocked out of the loss to the New York Jets by a helmet-to-helmet hit from Minkah Fitzpatrick. In his 2nd game back, he looked like the most dangerous player on the field.
He also filled a need. Denzel Boston has been quieter over the last 2 games, catching 1 pass against the Baltimore Ravens and 3 on Sunday, and Concepcion stepped in as Deshaun Watson’s top target in a game where Watson threw for 308 yards.
This is the player the Browns envisioned when they took him in the 1st round.
His comment about stacking weeks is a warning to the rest of the league. Concepcion has already said that opposing punters are kicking away from him, and now defenses will have to account for him all over the field. That should create more space for Boston and Harold Fannin Jr., who caught 6 passes for 91 yards on Sunday.
Consistency is the next test. Rookie receivers often follow a big game with a quiet one as opponents adjust, and the Pittsburgh Steelers will be studying this tape before next week’s rematch.
That game could decide 1st place in the AFC North, with both teams at 5-2. If Concepcion follows through on his promise, the Browns have a 2nd young receiver capable of taking over a game, and that is a scary thought for the rest of the division.
