Some milestones say more about the past than the present. A stat that would be routine for most starting quarterbacks can carry extra weight when it has taken years to reach. That is the case for Cleveland’s quarterback after Sunday’s win in Tennessee. In his 5th season with the Browns, Deshaun Watson finally reached a number he hit regularly earlier in his career.
Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland shared the stat after the 27-24 win over the Titans. It’s the first time Watson has thrown for 300 yards with the Browns.
“Deshaun Watson: 25/36, 308 yards, 1 rushing TD, 1 INT. This is Watson’s first game with the #Browns throwing for 300+ yards,” Justice said.

It is a striking fact given who Watson was before he arrived. He led the NFL with 4,823 passing yards for the Houston Texans in 2020, and 300-yard games were common during his Pro Bowl seasons there.
In Cleveland, the story has been very different. Watson played in only 19 games over his first 3 seasons with the Browns because of a suspension and injuries, and he missed all of 2025 after multiple Achilles surgeries. Even during this year’s resurgence, his best day had been 268 yards in the Week 4 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Sunday was his most complete game of the season. He completed 17 of 22 passes for 202 yards in the 1st half alone, and he looked sharp. He also scored on a run in the 4th quarter.
He spread the ball around, too. KC Concepcion caught 8 passes for 129 yards, Harold Fannin Jr. added 6 for 91, and 6 different players caught at least 1 pass.
Protection made the difference. Watson was sacked only once after going down 13 times over the previous 2 games, and with time in the pocket, he was able to push the ball downfield instead of only getting it out quickly.
He is in the final year of his contract, so each game like this strengthens his case for a future, whether in Cleveland or elsewhere. Next comes a trip to Pittsburgh with 1st place in the AFC North on the line, and if he can deliver another performance like this, the Browns will like their chances.
