The Cleveland Browns could be out of a No. 2 option at tight end after David Njoku requested a trade.
The former first-round pick asked to be traded before training camp begins.
1/2 Browns’ TE David Njoku and his agent Drew Rosenhaus asked today for the team to trade him. The Browns told Njoku they would like to keep him, but Rosenhaus told them he’s intent on a trade. They want a trade before training camp.

It’s unclear whether or not the Browns will grant his wish or keep him around this season.
The Browns do have depth at tight end if they decide to move on from Njoku.
They signed Pro Bowl tight end Austin Hooper and drafted Harrison Bryant in the fourth round of the draft.
However, there might be another player that wants to possibly suit up at tight end.
Mack Wilson’s Offer
Linebacker Mack Wilson had a surprisingly strong season for Cleveland last year.
He decided to throw his name into the hat as a potential replacement for Njoku.
First, he posted a video of him catching some passes with one hand.

That’s fairly impressive for a guy who doesn’t play offense.
Wilson appears to have strong hands for a linebacker.
After posting the video, he decided to expand on the idea.

Clearly he’s joking, but it is an interesting idea.
The Browns desperately need Wilson at linebacker since it’s their weakest area on the field.
The former fifth-round pick is coming off a solid rookie campaign and is projected to be a starting linebacker once again.
However, maybe there is a role for Wilson on the Browns offense.
Wilson at Tight End?
In the scenario where the Browns trade Njoku and don’t receive a tight end back in return.
Cleveland would have Hooper, Bryant, Pharaoh Brown, and Stephen Carlson at tight end.
New head coach Kevin Stefanski runs a tight end heavy offense.
Clearly, the Browns don’t need help at tight end, but their offensive scheme utilizes the position often.
Maybe, Cleveland could put together a type of trick play where Wilson could be used as an option at tight end.
He obviously has the hands to play the position, so maybe give him a shot.
The team doesn’t need him there, but maybe if the injuries start to stack up they look his way.
Right now, the Browns need Wilson at linebacker, so they shouldn’t risk his health at tight end.
Who knows if the Browns will even trade Njoku at the end of the day.
However, it appears Wilson is ready to suit up at tight end if the Browns do decide to call his number.
