Are The Browns And Vikings In Trade Discussions For Odell Beckham Jr.?

In a recently released NFL mock draft, the Minnesota Vikings are busy.

According to a mock draft released by CBS Sports, the Vikings acquire Arizona Cardinals star cornerback Patrick Peterson but that is not all.

The crown move would be trading a first-round pick for Cleveland Browns star wide receive Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham… to MINNESOTA?

The Browns deal the star WR to the Vikings for the No. 22 pick and draft LSU LB Patrick Queen. But the real question is, what grade does Minnesota get for this move?

— CBS Sports HQ (@CBSSportsHQ) April 13, 2020

The draft was completed by CBS analysts including ex-NFL players in Quinn, Bryant McFadden and Danny Kanell; former NFL executive Scott Pioli; NFL insiders Jonathan Jones and Jason La Canfora; senior NFL analysts Pete Prisco and Will Brinson; NFL fantasy analysts Jamey Eisenberg and Dave Richard; and NFL Draft analyst Ryan Wilson.

It was a wild draft that featured the Miami Dolphins trading up to take Joe Burrow.

However, it’s not the only reported move happening involving Beckham either.

The Vikings Reasoning

Let’s hit why the CBS panel believed the Vikings would make this move.

For starters, the Vikings just traded away one of their best receivers to the Buffalo Bills.

Obviously, Jack White of USA Today would love this trade.

The writer from Vikings Wire said that the Vikings would be able to hold off from drafting a wideout until the later rounds, while quickly replacing the recently traded Stefon Diggs.

The Vikings want a receiver to take the pressure off Adam Thielen and give quarterback Kirk Cousins a deep-ball threat.

In their eyes, trading a first-round pick would be enough to acquire Beckham.

The Trade Rumor

As crazy as CBS might have sounded, it’s not the only rumor going around about Beckham being on the move.

It turns out the Vikings and Browns could really be discussing a trade.

In this move, the Vikings would keep their first-round pick and send future draft capital.

The Browns would receive a second-round and fifth-round pick for the 2021 draft while the Vikings would get Beckham.

So, as I reported this morning on @MandMWFAN, Source has told me that the Browns and Vikings are in discussions on a trade that would send @obj to the Vikings for a 2nd and 5th round pick next year. Trade is not done, but the deal is being discussed.

If this truly were to happen, the Vikings would have had one of the more wildest offseasons in year’s past.

Look at how this would unfold in the end:

If the trade were to happen as reported, the net result would be the Vikings trading Stefon Diggs, a 2nd and a 7th for Odell Beckham Jr., a 1st, a 6th and a 2021 4th.

Final Thoughts

Who really knows at this point if Beckham if truly safe?

Since the proposed trade is for future draft capital, we won’t know if he is safe after the 2020 NFL Draft.

The only way we will know is if GM Andrew Berry makes a statement.

Let’s see if the rumors get big enough for him to do that.
