The Cleveland Browns have officially released their inactive list for Sunday’s season opener against the Jaguars, and one name in particular confirms a concern that had been building since earlier in the week. Teven Jenkins will not play, meaning the questions surrounding his back injury have now become reality just hours before kickoff at EverBank Stadium.
The team confirmed the full group of scratches ahead of the opener.
“Inactives for our Week 1 matchup: QB Taylen Green (3QB), LB Justin Jefferson, CB Noah Igbinoghene, S Daniel Thomas, CB Toriano Pride Jr., C Parker Brailsford, G Teven Jenkins,” Cleveland Browns wrote.

Taylen Green’s designation as the emergency third quarterback is worth noting as well. With Deshaun Watson and Shedeur Sanders as the only two quarterbacks active for the game, Green’s third quarterback status means he can only enter under the league’s emergency rules..
Justin Jefferson, Noah Igbinoghene, Daniel Thomas and Toriano Pride Jr. being held out leaves less experienced depth to handle special teams and spot duty in the secondary and at linebacker, an area that will be tested early against a Jacksonville offense built around Trevor Lawrence and a talented group of pass catchers.
Parker Brailsford rounds out the inactives after dealing with a thumb injury throughout the week, removing another name from the interior offensive line mix on a day when continuity up front was already a major storyline. Between Jenkins and Brailsford both sitting out, Cleveland will lean even more heavily on Elgton Jenkins to organize a line that is already breaking in multiple new starters together for the first time in a real game.
