The Cleveland Browns have four potential starters at the most crucial position in team sports.
Unfortunately, none of the quarterback options are particularly encouraging.
However, insider Jason Lloyd believes there should be a clear frontrunner.
He predicted that Kenny Pickett would be the starter in Week 1, adding that there was no point in starting Joe Flacco.
“Kenny Pickett is going to start the first game. I don’t know what playing a 40-year-old QB gets you this year,” Lloyd said, via 92.3 The Fan.

Lloyd has a valid point, as the Browns need to think about the future.
Flacco is a proven player, and everybody knows what he can bring to the table, but at his age he is not the long-term solution.
Pickett hasn’t shown that he can lead an NFL offense to great success so far, but he might have the upper hand over rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders because he has experience in the league, and the coaching staff raved about him when they traded for him.
The Browns have two first-round picks in the quarterback-heavy 2026 NFL Draft.
With that in mind, they should make sure to find out whether their quarterback of the future is on the roster or not.
That means giving the young players a fair shot to prove their worth.
So, even if Pickett makes the most sense as the starter for Week 1, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Gabriel or Sanders get the job at some point this season.
