One of the storylines of the Week 10 Cleveland Browns game against the New England Patriots was the battle of the coaches.
Coach Bill Belichick, the greatest of all time, got his start in Cleveland in the 1990s.
Coach Kevin Stefanski, the reigning NFL Coach of the Year, is in his sophomore season.
New coach versus established coach, who would prevail?
We now know that Coach Belichick outcoached Coach Stefanski in grand fashion.
In fact, he made Stefanski and the Browns look like amateurs.
Of course, he didn’t do it alone; Belichick has a great staff also.
On his less-than-stellar coaching day, Stefanski was asked about the game.
What He Said
“Inconsistency is certainly frustrating… We’ve got to have accountability with the players and correct those things. Anytime you’re inconsistent like we are right now, it’s really frustrating.”

Inconsistency is putting it mildly.
Stefanski’s Play Calling
The miscues in Coach Stefanski’s play calling always become blatantly obvious in the team’s losses.
However, some of them are headscratchers.
The running game was abandoned today, and it started well.
On the very first drive of the game, D'Ernest Johnson ran the ball 4 times for 58 yards (14.5 YPA). The #Browns ran the ball just 3 more times in the entire rest of the 1st half.
It's time to have an uncomfortable conversation about Kevin Stefanski's play-calling.

Stefanski needs to answer questions about his own inconsistencies.
Horrible Comparisons
Coach Stefanski may need to consider relinquishing play calling duties to offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.
Otherwise, comparisons to bad Browns coaches of yesteryear will continue to surface.
This was Hue Jackson bad. https://t.co/GvtOKLhjYn

Is Hue Jackson back designing game plans and calling plays? 14 passes vs 8 runs agai at the NFL's best defensive backfield, while averaging g 8 yards a carry. Clueless #Browns

Haven’t seen a coaching mismatch this bad since Freddie Kitchens stumbled into Gillette in 2019. #Browns

Even his postgame comments are being compared to Freddie Kitchens.
Nothing about this is good.
This is a very Freddie Kitchens-esque quote from Stefanski here https://t.co/hMPTTTVqcA

At Rock Bottom
Honestly, the Browns cannot sink much lower than they did today.
They looked unprepared from start to finish which is not characteristic of a Coach Stefanski team.
It is just so baffling.
Hopefully, the Browns do not stay in this rock bottom state for long.
Coach Stefanski needs to scrap everything and rework this week because at 5-5 in a peculiar season, this team is still in contention.
If there are more games like today’s, that will not be the case for long.
